SUPER CHIC PROTECTIVE MASK TUTORIAL
Protective face masks are the new "must have" accessory. If we are going to have to wear them for the foreseeable future, we might as well do it in style! I love this pattern because it is form fitting to the face and doesn't have any unnecessary bulky fabric. My mother developed the pattern herself after making countless masks for healthcare professionals, family and friends alike! Crafters have really been real hero's throughout this whole thing! It is a time when you are proud that you know how to work a sewing machine!
You may have heard me before, however I will repeat, this tutorial does requires a sewing machine. There are some great no sew mask patterns out there if you do not have one. I saw another "super chic" mask made out of a prada shoe dust bag. For the elastic replacement, we use hair bands. Try and snag the soft pony tail holders that don't leave hair creases, these will be the easiest on the ears. For the filters we use MERV 13 filter media 20x36. You can purchase them here. This is fabric that can be cut into 4x4 squares. This type of product is being used in homemade masks. They also have a free mask pattern available.
Have fun with your prints! I went with the kitties because I wanted to make people smile. The kitty on the left cheek resembles mi amore Jerry.
